Why LOVE Is Your Superpower

In this season we hear a lot about LOVE.  I am taken back to the heart-shaped candy from grade school and the signing of those themed valentines to bring to everyone in the class.  For me I remember “it was the rule” to give a Valentine to everyone and LOVE EVERYONE.  I think for me it stuck….love was not a sacred small quantity of magic that I need to hide, it was a gift I could freely gift to anyone and any situation.  And I did not need a hard candy with a printed message!

In my now 60 years (I still cannot believe I am 60) of experiences, I can say that the free gifting of LOVE has been my super power and I believe it can be yours too! 

During the Spring of 2020 when “the COVID” hit us hard, I was compelled to make a daily video that I proclaimed LOVE is the antivirus.    Here are the three components:

• Love Yourself.  This is actually my hardest one!  I spent my early years trying to measure up to my Barbie dolls!   God did not make me with a 38” DD bust and that super small waist….and those long legs!  I was 5’4” at my tallest and never meant to be a super model.  For many years I thought my size and shape were “bad.”  I remember wearing only black clothing and told myself I was “under construction” trying to get to a better outer package.  And finally I realized that God invented “stretchy clothing” for us to be comfortable in our own skin!  Although it is still on my mind, I seek health and happiness can choose colorful clothing that I LOVE in my size.  LOVE yourself first to give you the life energy to take to the world!
• Love Your Community.  I have found a magic is moving others to a common goal.  In the CampExperience™ Network this means we Do Good & Have Fun.  In teaching art and leading workshops it means watching guests find the magic of their right brain creativity and enjoy the journey.  In podcasting it means showcasing others’ amazing stories and letting them be the “Star of the show.”  It is my experience that amazing joy comes from helping to build community and sharing your light and love with them.  You have gifts that the world needs…so LOVE your community and get a lifetime of happiness.
• Be Part of the Possible.  I believer we all play a part of a huge life “circus” of talented performers putting on quite a show.  Maybe you are the high wire act and are full of adventure and risk?  Or you are the behind the scenes ticket-taker ensuring everyone gets a seat.  What matters is the dance of life and that together anything is possible.  I grew up in a Midwest, middle-class family, worked at McDonald’s the day I turned 16 and paid for my own college education.  My parents never traveled outside the US until their 50^th wedding anniversary trip to Hawaii.  I had a different dream!  My public speaking took me to 20 countries and I continue to venture globally for art, podcasting and to experience a bold and fun-filled live.  I create all of these dreams in my heads and the magic is…I believe it is possible!  You can do this too on any scale in your community or in the world.  Be part of the possible and live your dreams!

Love is boundless.  Love is “free” (and we all remember the 60’s free love!) and as the Bible says…

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV
